Vomiting in dogs
Hi there! We are sorry you are here but happy to help. There is nothing quite so bad as a vomiting pup. And why is it always on the carpet? Most episodes of vomiting are short lived. However, vomiting can be a sign of something more serious and if the episode is prolonged, can lead to serious dehydration. Here is how to tell if it is serious and what can be done.

How often is this happening?
Are they feeling sick otherwise?
Have they also stopped eating and drinking?
Are they also having diarrhea?
Is it vomiting or regurgitation?
While regurgitation can be problematic it is less likely to indicate a need for urgent treatment. Vomiting is characterized by an active process. There is usually a sound associated with bringing something up, there is an abdominal contraction and there may or may not be undigested food. Regurgitation is a passive process. There is often no warning that it is going to happen. There is often undigested food present.

Does your pet need Urgent Care?
Here’s what you can do at home...
Hold off feeding one meal.
When you start feeding again, choose a bland diet.
Avoid using over the counter nausea aids for humans.
Don’t supplement electrolytes with sugary drinks.
What can you expect from your visit?
Many people ask if we need the vomit. Nope! If you think you will have a hard time describing it, you can always take a picture but there is no testing to be done on the vomit itself.
